I recently did a stage magic show for my client holiday party. This is just a couple minutes clip of some of the funniest moments; both tricks on the video were learned from Mark Calabrese Penguin lecture (the Hug Kill routine is further credited to Andy Nyman and Tom Stone). It goes without saying that since I am performing his stuff, I highly recommend all of Mark Calabrese online lectures. Thanks for the inspiration, Mark (I hope he reads this).

What effect is the hug/kill called? I saw Zabrecky do this too and hadn't come across it before.

I think the origin was an Andy Nyman trick called "Dice Man" and Tom Stone "Of Dice and Men" (published in his Maelstrom book and possibly also in his Genii column). I learned when Mark Calabrese taught his method in his Penguin lecture called "No Dice" which was a new method of forcing a number and a different display of the "Kill" signs at the end.

Who is this Tom "Stone" guy? Haha, kidding. Thanks for the info! Unfortunately Mr. Minch was not printing it when I added Maelstrom to my order a couple years back.

I too think I need to order and read both Tom Stone books ASAP (Vortex and Maelstrom) - if this routine is any indication, the books must be top-notch quality. Thanks for sharing your knowledge to the magic community, Tom.
