Hello all. I'm expanding my horizons into the realm of coin magic. I went to a local pawn shop and found they had 5 beautiful walking liberty half dollars. I bought them. After the fact, I'm wondering if it was a wasted purchase due to all of the dates being different. How big of an issue is this? If you all say it's a big deal breaker in the long run, I'll start my search for 5 of the same dates. Thank you in advance.

Hello "Irish/Swede"!
Wow! You just "got here", and, already you are "expanding your horizons"! --That's good! As Julius Caesar once said: "Non progredi est regredi!" (Not to go forward is to go backward!) When I was young, and just starting out, in the late '40s, I was a "coinaholic" (Down's palm-both hands, 5 coin star/both hands, coin roll with four coins-simultaneously, three coin toss up, and caught individually, etc.)! I met Bobo in '51, and, we became great friends. Now, I'm 85, retired from 50 years on the road with a show. My hands aren't as "quick" as they once were, but, I still do "Expansion of Texture", and, I can still do a "mean" Okito box, so, I'll make a suggestion, anyway...... You probably paid a "few bucks" for those walking liberties! I remember when the Franklins first hit the scene! If you're going to do "something" in which you want the spectator to "believe" that the coin that vanished, and reappeared "in an impossible place", matching coins might well be critical. Otherwise, I don't think it would be particularly important. Perhaps you should ask this in the coin forum. Just scroll down a little, and, you'll find it. There have been a "few" routines developed in the past 60 years, and, I was busy doing my show, and haven't kept up with all of them. "Mb217" could give you a more up to date opinion. Marion is a very fine coin man! --and a friend. He will be helpful, I'm sure. Go! Bust a knuckle! Dick

Well, "Ryan" is definitely Irish, and "Carlson" is definitely Swedish. My father was a Swede/Norwegian, and, my mother had a bit of Irish blood, so I think I'm qualified to "know"! --heehee
I notice that Marion was helpful. He "knows"!
