Hello all,
Im quite new so please forgive my ignorant questions. Up to this point all ive really done is a little hand/finger flasher stuff. However there is a ren fair coming soon and I will be a participant as a fire fairy and am looking for some easy and fun magic tricks. (if youve read my previous post ive pretty much given up on the staff thing- I think...) I was thinking about maybe using a flash effect like rick hasletts "flash it" or even "touch it" and producing the candy fireballs for the kids. Has anyone used either of these? Any opinions/alternative ideas/ technical help on how this can be achieved either with no sleves or arm warmers only is VERY much appreciated. Thanks! |

Forget about fire magic outside. To dangerous. Hasletts stuff is junk. Overpriced and hand made very poorly.
Great balls of fire is an old trick no longer available that was sold thru Tannen's Magic. Fire Fairy, don't know what that is, but maybe you can use the D'Lite gimmick production sold at all magic shops. Don't forget to get the tape as well as the color change one. They also have a rose. So just purchase at least 2 D'lites and the additions. You should be able to do a great routine. When is your fair. You need at least 6 months practice with any trick before performing it in public. They probably would not allow you to use real fire anyway. |

Thanks for the warning on Haslett. I had thought about the fire issue- but ive seen it done by other performers and much more extravagantly then sparks and flashes- but a good point none the less. The fair in August so I'm thinking I will have enought time- and I had already planned on D'lights for nights time Another idea I had is having a small bag with the fireballs in the and maybe have the smoke gimmick? Hmmm...

Well, I was not warning you. I was serious. The wind will blow the flame all over the place if not completely out.
You keep saying 'fireballs', can you explain what you are talking about or give a reference? I do not know of any bag for fireballs. The only fireball I knew of is no long available. So how are you going to use something you cannot get? This product was real fire in your bare hand. It was only a cotton ball with no way to control it. You have seen fire performed by other at this fair before, is that what you are saying? |

Ooops sorrry- I thought I had made it clear when I said candy fireballs. They are the size of gumballs, red, and very cinniminy (<-horrible spelling I know- its only 8am)candy- usually when bought in bulk they are individually wrapped. I would not ever risk actual fireballs or any flame that stayed longer than a flash. And that brought up the smokeing bag idea as well...

Then you have posted this in the wrong place. This forum topic is for fire not candy.

There may be a product that your looking for, its the ultra mini smoke machine. I don't have one but Im pretty sure it uses a solid fuel, not like that used in smoke machines. It could be in your bag of tricks (maybe a change bag) to let the kiddies know the candy is really HOT!

Thank you Red wing any idea where I could find something like that? And wmhegbli, I AM in the correct forum as my question was regarding the use of a flash/fire effect and or smoke effect to produce the candy- not the candy itself.

Check out my post regarding the double bang wand. You ignite a dove pan with a ball of fire then produce your candies. Sounds like what you're looking for.

Sorry, I never heard of Candy Fireballs.
The change fire bag will work for this. Produce flames from the bag and close to put out the fire, pour out the candy. See Klamm's Magic for the fire bag. |
