I love you so
Who knows what ‘ere befalls us? What happens from day to day? We go to work and then come home, And then to sleep we lay. I know there is time, between, be-twixt, When we eat and bathe and play, When we think that no one is watching, As we go about our dull day. But someone is always watching, Our admirers we may never know, Who or when or why or where, Our paths cross as we go. I’ve watched you for what seems like ages, You’ve never known I was there. I’ve seen you brush your pearly whites, I’ve sniffed your underwear. I’ve watched you put on your pajamas, I’ve also watched you get dressed. But you have never noticed me, I’m invisible like all of the rest. Now, I lay here quietly beside you, Not sure how much more I can take. My heart flies high and my mind wanders on, But, you smell different when you’re awake.

People die at the worst of times, When we’re busy up to our necks. The more we age, the more we change, It is a proven fact. The things we never used to do, Becomes a religious act. Each morning we rise and drink our coffee, And read the daily obit. Hoping we haven’t been dead and not known it, And find our name within it. But another reason is important too, It’s because of what life has taught us. Our lives are filled with countless A*****, And some of them may be in it. Oh My God! I can’t believe, your time has finally arrived, I see your name and picture here, You finally just up and died. I guess the time has finally come, To pay my final respect. I know you aren’t coming to my final demise, But then I think, “What’s the heck!” The line is so long, so many are here, To celebrate your special day. I calmly and patiently await my turn, To P*** upon your grave.

I am in the process of reading Weeepin' Will's books, and if you like his poems, you'll absolutely love his long-form narratives.

He is working on a new one if I recall. The topic was of a familiar interest. I have wanted to read these for a while now. Thanks for the recommendation!

Also working on a funeral planning manual and plan to include these poems at the end of it in a chapter titled: "Poems about things you never wanted to think about." to add some levity. As a matter of fact, here is another poem. Your Daddy’s Bed I’ll always remember the night that we met, Our first kiss, and the night that we wed. You carried me across the threshold, that night. We made love on your daddy’s bed. Your dad had passed ten years before, And left you all his belongings. His house, his bed, his furniture, and car. The abundance filled all of your longings. I was young then and it felt rather creepy, To sleep where you daddy had died. I swore I could hear moans and groans in the night, And sometimes a scream or a sigh. When morning would come and the sun lit the room, My fears would seem to hide. But all of these years it is still too creepy, To sleep where your daddy had died. My clothes are all packed and the deal is made, There’s nothing left to be said. I’m sorry for you that your dad had to die, But he has to get out of our bed.
