If a plastic, or rubber >>TT<<, it's wise to insert a SMALL wad of damp cotton ball or kleenex. I'll PM you!

I've heard a small wad of steel wool stuffed into the tip of the tip works well.

Steel wool conducts heat and you could possibly burn yourself.

Sometime back then, my old pal, Gene Anderson, gave me his little poem, "Son of Morning" for it. (He got that title for it from Roy Roth (UK.) I remember that it was suggested by a magician (James Lucier, I think)in GENII, in the early '50s. I remember working a corporate Christmas party in New Orleans, a few years ago, in a dimly lit room. --I used almost three books of matches in the cocktail hour!

How about a wet ball of tissue?

I use a bit of tissue and wet it a little. It makes sure nothing burns

I used to vanish a cigarette in a TT with just a small wad of a bar napkin tucked in to avoid burning the plastic. Worked great.

Why not just place a piece of aluminum foil in the very tip of the TT. It would keep the ashes from getting all over the actually TT. Just a thought.

I have done this many times, and I only used regular Vernet thumb tips. The lit match will extinguish immediately. No need to stuff anything else inside the TT beforehand.

It's interesting to note that not everybody reads the whole thread! The use of dampened tissue was suggested, I think, three times.

Yea I just use a different one for cigarettes and one for silks.
It is interesting how the only exercise some magicians get is running when nobody is chasing them.

And Vernet sells them for what three and a half bucks these days. Talk about getting a big bang for your buck. |

Great handling for a lit match to TT on Pat Page v.1 DVD
