Just a note to advise that my Amnesia deck is finally listed on Penguin.
This is what Ning said about it... If the house was burning down and I could only take a deck of cards with me. Steve Gores Amnesia Deck would most probably be it! At first glance it does not look like one of the many available super fancy cardistry decks used by flourishers today. But do not simply judge a book by its cover. This innocent looking deck has the power to make people believe you have incredible Rainman abilities! Full review here http://ningthing.com/review-the-amnesia-......ve-gore/ There are a whole load of terrific magic trailers out there, a few dodgy ones too! If like me you have always wanted to learn a memorised deck, but for a whole stack of reasons either you do not have the time or have a fear of forgetting it, well here is the solution. The amnesia deck enables you to perform memorised deck routines without having to learn one. It also gives you the power of subitzing or guestimating powers. If you want to seem like you have the powers of rainman or want to do the perfect any card at any number, without lots of memory or mathematical work, well this is the deck for you. It even allows you to have the deck cut several times and still do some of the effects, which can’t be done if you had actually memorised a deck. As long as you have standard colour vision, you can learn the system in a few minutes. The deck is designed and printed in Aronson stack and has an option to use your own deck whilst using the Tamariz mnemonica stack too. As I said, you do not need to actually memorise these systems, the deck does all the work for you. A large Thank you must go to Simon Aronson and Juan Tamariz for allowing me to use their stacks. On top of all this, as the Amnesia deck is also marked. It has actually been called the King Kong of marked decks as you can see the markings with poor eyesight or from a distance. It has printed by USPCC and is bicycle quality and although I think the design is quite arty and unique, if you are not too keen on the back design yourself, you can use your usual regular or marked deck and just use have the Amnesia card case out and still use the Amensia system. The deck comes with an instruction card in the box and 5 routines, fully explained in detail in online videos, which also fully explain the system. If you would like to see an unedited performance of some of the effects possible with the amnesia deck click here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-du3h2yiNE Or if you are still yearning for a Hollywood style blockbuster of a trailer, then click here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tQotwFvwrk&feature=youtu.be Here's the quotes about it AMNESIA Amnesia is a unique system, worthy of your consideration. Eric Jones Let's just say I know a little something about marked decks and these are two you will have a lot of fun with. Very clever ideas here Jon Armstrong These decks make the beginner look like a professional and the professional look like a God! Luke Jonas, Olnas Magic I am not familiar with the Aronson stack, but this deck allows me to use it with confidence. You have come up with a really powerful deck of cards - genius idea and very easy to use. They are going to make some powerful card magic a lot easier and more sure fire. Thanks for releasing it. Andy Stone The deck arrived on Friday morning and it is superb! Steve has obviously put a lot of effort into designing this deck, which is produced by The United States Playing Card Company. I would recommend to anyone wanting to look like a real card sharp, without putting in the hours, weeks or months of practice Well done Steve. 10/10. Paul McCaig Wow, this deck is very cool. No hype on this deck as it does what it says and does it well. Good stuff. Paul Gibson Vanish Magazine review https://www.joomag.com/magazine/mag/0604......page=153 I also stock it myself! It's for sale on Penguin and through Murphys dealerships now.
Here's a new quote too ''Someone once told me that a good idea is something that the world needs. I think Steve just got that idea with the Amnesia deck'' - Think Nguyen |

I recently bought this deck and have to say that, for me, it's the best marked deck I've come across. Though there are some clever marked decks out there, with fantastic effects that can be accomplished with them, they're of no use to me because I can't see the markings. Many of us, once we reach a certain age, find our eyesight lets us down, especially if the lighting's also bad.
I can see/interpret the markings on Steve's deck very easily, which is a huge bonus. It's not a Bicycle deck (the clever marking system precludes that), so you couldn't use another deck, then switch this one in, but I don't see that as a problem as there are several effects you can perform with it. I also think it's a fun-looking deck and, so far as an audience is concerned, it's not going to bother them unduly. (Audiences don't generally know it's compulsory for a magician to use a Bicycle deck. ) The deck is especially useful for people who don't use a memorised deck, but would like to perform tricks associated with them. Steve has arranged 'Amnesia' to take advantage of the Aronson stack, though he also (with both creators' permission) includes a Tamariz crib. I personally do use a memorised stack - Nikola. (I know - very old-fashioned!) This means that, if I set out Steve's deck in Nikola order, I can't easily do all the tricks Steve performs and explains on his website. (The deck comes with a video link.) However, I don't see this as a problem. If I set it out in the Aronson stack, then I can do the tricks - and without having to memorise that stack. (It might even encourage me to learn the Aronson!) For me, the beauty of the deck is that I can still use it with Nikola and identify cards without having to see the face of any card. Also, with a little bit of thought and adjustment, I'm able to perform all the tricks on Steve's video. (Albeit I have to work a little bit harder as I'm using memory.) For those of you who use Nikola (and own Supreme Magic's 'The Nikola Card System' booklet), there are several tricks you can do that are made easier by the Amnesia set-up. (I've just found half a dozen very quickly.) You can perform ACAAN with Nikola. However, this generally requires a rough estimation, peek and readjustment of the cards. It's difficult and I've never attempted it. Though Steve's 'Amnesia' crib makes it very easy to perform the trick with the Aronson stack, the marking system also makes it easier to perform the Nikola ACAAN. I might finally give it a try! At the end of the day, if you want to use a marked deck but, like me, struggle with markings, then - in my opinion - this is the deck for you. It uses colour to identify cards, so - as Steve points out on his website - if you're colour-blind, then, sadly, it won't be of any use. But if you're simply short-sighted like me, the marks are so much easier to identify than anything I've ever used before. It's certainly a deck I'll use. |
