Push a US Half Dollar thru the back of your hand. I mean, it's pretty obvious what's going on for the most part but I think this could be a funny quick opener if you do coin magic. And even if you don't I could think of some funny presentations with using this. Thoughts? RNK

RNK,
In the industry I perform in I frequently have to do "media" to promote the shows. I need quick 15-ish second tricks that I can do on TV. For me this was perfect, there is virtually no verbal set up where I have to explain the props or premise. Is this the biggest magician fooler in the world? Nope...but neither is the Ambitious Card or vanish of the last coin in any 3 Fly routine that I've ever seen. Here are some ideas that you can do with the Slow Poke coin: *Would it be a great lead in or sight gag in a Coins Through Table routine! *How about a fake explanation for Coin in Bottle where you push the coin through the label of the bottle and pull it back out! *I've seen a ton of kids magicians show a kid a coin vanish then say how it works is a trap door in their hand. Of course the kid wants to actually see something go in the trap door...well now you can! *I think Jay Sankey had a trick where a coin disappears and reappears in a deck of cards above the selected card. With the Slow Poke coin you change the effect from a transposition to a penetration by pushing the coin through the deck of cards. I bet your close up set has a ton of transpositions, but hardly any penetrations...mix it up! *Because of the nature of how this coin locks and unlocks you can do some interesting Slow Motion "hand washy" type vanishes that aren't possible with any other coin (real or gimmicked). Hope these ideas get you thinking... Louie |

How is this different from just using something that is already available?

KJ,
Try doing it with the thing that is already available. Let go of the coin while it's on the back of your hand and see what happens, then you'll know how it is different. Louie |

We've seen this gimmick and gotten to play with it. It's a good prop to have in your utility belt. It helps you extend the moment of magic a little more and you definitely can't do this with anything that pre-exists.
