You can go to hermeticpublishing.com. They just put this book back into print. It has a good description there. No table aces is a really good routine. Also in one routine he combines Dr. Daleys last trick and Brother John Hamman signed card.

That routine is called Mysterious. It's killer.

I will agree mysterious is a good routine. I thought no table aces was just a book filler.

I have the videos, and the gambling routine flows and is great. Recommended.

Anything with Jack Carpenter's name on it is the goods. I have his gambling tape and The Experts Portfolo.
Modus Operandi is next on my list.

Jack Carpenter is one of the few people in the Magic world who actually plays cards for money. As such, you should lend greater weight to his thoughts on the subject of gambling. I would also like to praise his routine Mysterious. While I generally dislike combining classic plots, I find this combination to be particularly synergistic. Daley's trick allows for greater audience control - in the original, its weakness was in the early audience anticipation of the climax. In Mysterious, it is pushed back to dramatically superior point, which makes all the difference.

I liked the book, but much prefer his Experts Portfolio Vol 1 which is a goldmine of wonderful practical card magic. Potent Presage and Dance for the Devious are effects I use all the time. It also contains a nice reverse assembly.
My favourite routine in Modus Operandi is Full Metal Jack. Much easier than it looks!!! Iain. |
