In a packet of 10 or more cards, striping out the alternate cards, that is from even number positions and placing the remaining pile over it..
One effect is showing randomly arranged 13 cards of one suit. Do the above move then down under deal.. Now the cards are arranged in order..

Sounds a bit as "The "Alternate Card" Trick" in Professor Hoffmann's More Magic was its predecessor, just without the faro.
