Sol Stone is known for his beautiful and advanced coin magic. This is one of the few self-working tricks he came up with and one that he used to fool many of the most knowledgeable magicians in the world. Most suspected that he was using magnets and threads. But this quick routine only uses the examinable and non-gimmicked props that are seen.
The basic effect is simple: You show a cork and a cup, that can both be examined or borrowed. The cork is laid on its side and covered by the cup. You wave your hand over the cup but nothing happens. You again cover the cork with the cup but this time you let the spectator wave her hand over the cup. Amazingly when the cup is lifted the cork is now standing upright - on its edge. Everything can now be handed for examination or given as a souvenir. Can be immediately repeated.
This originally appeared as the bonus routine on the DVD that accompanied Sol Stone's Radical Dice Routine. A Meir Yedid Magic Product. Produced by Meir Yedid. Original release date: 2007. Running time: Approximately 5 minutes.
I think this is one of the best impromptu magic effects ever invented. I really do. I use it all the time.Johnny Thompson
This is one of my favorite tricks for young and old and I've been doing it for many years. Super easy and drives people crazy! Total worker. Will Fern

Simple but effective. Can use a paper cup on the fly & any cork so
Impromptu. All presentation as effect in itself is simple and over in a second.

Actually I thought it used a couple of different g*****s which is not the case.

I agree it is obvious but then I know the method . Many years ago when I first saw this I liked it but I was still a magician then and I also guessed the method , however it will fool lay people ( most ) and some magicians as is testimony on this thread too . It is not expensive so if you like it and can't work it out or just want to support the art then it's a great little impromptu effect imo . Best wishes Tarik 😊
