I have done the same magic for years and all I do everyday is practise that. Once in a while I learn something new and then I will incorporate that into my act. A few months ago I started studying tarot cards and how to do some bizarre magic but 48 hours ago I started watching Sal Piacente DVD's and I have not put my cards down. Some of those effects can be done with Tarot cards and the effects are amazing. I kinda go through Phases where I will study non stop for a few weeks and then lay of and just review and practise what I already know and not learn anything new and it has been a long time since I really hit a phase where I go all out to start doing brand new things. The past 48 hours have been just that and it has been really exciting.
A note to those who are new. Practise sleights well even if you don't always use them. In one of the Piacente effects you have to do three sleights. False riffle shuffle, a riffle stack and a second deal. I watched the effect and his explanation of the patter and handling and then did it 20 or 30 times to myself to become comfortable with the patter (I use my own) and then I was ready to do it. The reason is that I can do those 3 sleights in my sleep. Alll I had to do was memorize the effect and get patter that work with the effect. Once you get it going it is a pleasure to learn magic. And the last 48 hours has been one of the most pleasureable 48 hours I have had in years. |

I have been practising my MP - now have it up to 10-12 inches from my right hand, and also with my left hand (1 inch only at the moment). I am also practising the coin roll down and UP (both hands). I find that a great time to practise is while watching football on the TV. Unfortunately I did this while England were playing Austria yesterday. They were so poor that I thought that I should give up coins and practise my ball skills: even at 57 years old I think I could have given a better performance than the current crop of highly paid stars. But at least even any US Café forum member could do a better job of managing the team than the current incumbent.
