I'm working on an effect where blood flows out of an object and onto a table cloth. without me being near it. Since this effect is for a Haunt, it needs to be almost immediately resettable and I have no desire to bring 100 tablecloths to each performance. Is there some sort of "blood goop" that can actually be gathered back up? ALmost like the "ectoplasm" that came with Ghostbusters toys back in the day?
If anyone has any thoughts I'd be grateful. TX! -Covernton |

I have never heard of such a product!
What about sitting the object that will bleed on a smaller coaster that is not fabric. That way it could be wiped down after each performance. Alternatively, use a placemat of some sort, but line the back of it with plastic so that it does not bleed through on to the table cloth. I think that any product which can be "scooped back up" without leaving a stain will not look much like blood.... Bryan

Ooblick
To Keep 'Em Entertained! 1 part water 1 part corn starch Mix water and corn starch together, and stir. Ooblick is a strange and fun slime for kids! You can roll it into a ball, and watch it melt back into a liquid! It's hard and stiff, but also gooey and runny, it's amazing! Try it at home! I leave it too you to figure out the right mixture for blood and how to use it. I use this stuff all the time! :kitty: |

Use regular fake blood. Do the effect on an antique style silver tray. Have a white disposable napkin on the tray. You then just have to change the napkin each time.

Covernton,
I'm sure you've seen the bleeding masks that they sell around Halloween. A hard plastic mask, with a tight fitting clear plastic layer over it. A blub/hose arrangements pumps blood to the top the mask, and the blood then flows between the two layers to be drained off at the bottom of the mask. If you have to pass off the responsibility of this room to someone else, after its already set up. I can't think of a safer way to go. Of couse, creating the plastic layers could be a really pain. - Rob |

Great ideas all around! Medals for everybody! And lots of possibilities I hadn't considered! In the next few months I'll be doing a little building and testing. I'll post as to how it's coming along.
BTW there are some photos of my last year's performance online at http://www.leproductions.com/Hal03/03Gal.html I'm in the library but there's an unbandaged shot of my makeup in "people" that I'm pleased with... even though the forehead is wiping off a bit at that point. It went pretty well for something I came up with the week before or so. The effect differed from what's written in the blurb. =) Well anyhoo, tx for the suggestions! -Covernton |

You can buy tablecloths that are plastic lined on top. If you keep a few of these handy, you can rotate them out and wash one while another is being used.
It's kind of a long way around sort of thing, and someone would have to be constantly wiping down tablecloths, but it's a possibility. |

If the table cloth will be set in place, and you are using one of the sliome or goo products with some added color, then it would seem the issue is leaving behind a stain or residue that would be a tell tale, consider spay coating-like scotch guard or such for the area of effect, or as Blachart suggests, a napkin, either disposable or fabric, still need to use a fresh one, but a smaller bundle to carry wtih you and launder at the end!
