Haha! I was trying to be discreet as I don't like things showing up on search etc
Or is that not an issue with the board anymore? I've been out of it for a long time... J? |

Not sure a cheap plastic box is worth the time and effort.
Have you look at the wooden change boxes on Genini Artifacts? If it is within your budget, a quality wood box will last you a life time. https://www.geminiartifacts.com/

The basic method is simplicity in itself, as you know. The effort to do a decent make-over on a cheap plastic prop may be better spent on actually making one that really looks like you want. If you are DIY enough to want to do the make-over, then making a new box isn't too far beyond that.
Or... do as I and many others have done... find a cool box and modify it with appropriate gimmick(s) to make it operate like your plastic one. A trip to Hobby Lobby, Pottery Barn, or any similar store will likely net you a cool box. You may not find one that is the exact size of a deck of cards unless you make one, but I'm not sure that is really important. Someone on this forum was doing just that awhile back. His boxes were quite nice. Here is one I made from a found box. I added the lining and made the gimmick to match. A box like this could be made shorter by cutting it down and reattaching the hardware.

Thanks for the advice and help guys! Really appreciate it.
The Gemini boxes are great. I'm not exactly the great at DIY but as the principle is fairly straightforward I might give it a go...If I do anything decent I'll post the photos. J? |

The people in my city are on strike and refusing to die. Most people here are magicians (even hobbyist)anyway and I doubt many lay people are interested. If they are they can search and buy most anything magic they want. Let us see what you end up with. Good Luck! Here is one for $20 https://www.daytonamagic.com/antique-car......42a.html

Viking puts out their own re-constructed box and it is fantastic. The inside workings are locking and undetectable.

Wish it was a little larger. I'd like to swap an envelope.
