Hey there,
I love Stephen King's work. I have read absolutly everything of his that I can get my hands on.... But here is an interesting question for you.... Did any of you know that his wife Tabitha has actully authored at least three books over the years? Her first "Small World," should be made into a movie. I am wondering why it hasn't. btw, having read the other two, which are ok, but no where near as good, has left me convinced that Stephen either wrote "Small World" for her, or at least helped her with it in a major way. Anyone else read "Small World?" any opinions or thoughts?

One early book "Rage" was allowed to go out of print by King because of it's alleged ties to a handful of school shootings. It is a disturbing book. |

Personally, I liked the Bachman books. They are more hard boiled then king usually is. By his own admission, before Bachman was outed as King.... Someone reviewed one of the stories and proclaimed Richard Bachman to be "Stephen King without a conscience."

"The Long Walk," one of the Bachman Books, is one of my favorite works by King.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

I just finished reading "The Outsider", King's newest book. I think it's his best work since "The Stand". I would recommend it to anyone interested in his work.

Used to like him. Found his work to become very derivative so have quit reading him.

I like his short stories and novellas. But his full novels...I feel like he pads his writing. I remember reading “Cujo” and thinking...my god he’s taking three pages to describe breakfast cereal. But undeniably he has one of the most fertile and innovative imagination of any writer.

Interesting, imgic. Cujo was not my favorite of his books, yet I do understand for later in the plot, why he spent so much time on that silly cereal.
Greerj, I agree with you that the new book is amazing. I enjoyed every page of it. I also felt he had slumped a little, but this one was great.

I liked "IT"; minus the kiddie porn segment, "The Stand", "On Writing", and "The Long Walk" was my favorite as well. I weathered the train wreck that was "Tommy Knocker's", "Insomnia" put me to sleep, and "Mr Mercedes" jumped the shark a few chapters in. I liked his collaboration with Peter Straub in "The Talisman" and "The Black House". I liked most of his TV mini-series; especially "Kingdom Hospital" which shadowed his real life of being hit by a car. IMO he is sitting on his laurels and his recent stories reflect it, but, I'm still hopeful
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

I heard somewhere that as an unknown aspiring writer, his manuscripts were repeatedly turned down by several publishers. Then, after he finally gained some success, he simply re-submitted and re-released all those early rejected stories as “new”.
