I know nothing - literally, nothing - about handkerchiefs.

And yet, I would love to learn & perform the handkerchief effects from MMCCIM (p267).

Could anyone, possibly, please, recommend a good handkerchief size / type (Cotton? Is cotton good? Silk? How about silk?) for me (and for goodness sake, what size?).

I'm overwhelmed trying to sort my way through listings on Amazon, so I thought it best that I ask.

Silk. 15" pocket square. Go to men's store -- prices (in USA) range from $10 to $40. Discount stores like Burlington Coat Factory, Men's Warehouse, Nordstrom Rack are places where you can approach the $10 mark.

I stop in every time I walk by these stores to see if the handkerchiefs are on sale.

I've tried Internet, but difficult to determine if the handkerchief is heavy enough to hide a coin within it, which is important to me.
