I have done some research but not certain of the answer.
What effects are possible with a locking reel and not a regular reel.
Any advice would be great

Locking reels, in my experience, are used more as a replacement as a pull. Ring to Key Case for example. The line is to thick to perform any of the other effects a finger reel used for in silk and rope magic.

I have never attempted or tried to place a thinner line in a locking reel to see it can be advantageous to use for the same effects a finger reel is used for in magic.
