Someday, I hope to replace my beautiful Lassen CSB that was stolen from me, but that's not easy.
Anyway, I was going to buy a Johnson version and I see Martinka makes one for about the same price. Has anyone here tried their set and willing to give an opinion? Thanks! |

I have both Lassen and Johnson sets. Obviously Lassen is a much better quality but hard to obtain and expensive. I have an older Johnson set that is made very well, far
better than most other makers. For the money Johnson is tough to beat. Your spectators will not no the difference. Have a great day, Walking Bob in Iowa |

Lassen's the best.
Johnson is the best bang for the buck. |

Long time lurker, first time poster...
If you have specific coins you want in your CSB set, contact Johnson to see if they can make them for you. I wanted a set with a Walking Liberty coin. They included the normal Chinese Coin and a Mexican Centavo in the set, and I believe it was $120 . The interesting thing is that they used the tail side from the Walking Liberty on the special sauce part of the effect.. When I inquired as to why, they said it was so I didn't have to worry about matching the date on the obverse side of the coins.. Made complete sense to me... mG |
