I'm reading the book about Doug Henning again.
Got to wondering about what ever happened to Debbie after the death of Doug? I did a google search for current photos of her and nothing came up.. Also.. I watched Copperfield Perform at the Caesars Palace in Lake Tahoe... I visited with David for many hours after the show and he mentioned that Henning was playing at the Sahara at the same time.. I now wish that I would have watched Doug's show the next day.. I'll never forget the day and year The next morning after we saw David and were heading back to Vegas was the day that Ronald Reagan got shot. I was wondering if Caesars and the Sahara still have those killer showrooms today and if they still use them? i think that the Sahara is now the Horizon and Caesars, not sure if it has a new name? Does anyone know if those Casino's still have shows today in those main rooms? Lots of big stars played both of those rooms back in the day.. Just wondering the current History of them.. Thanks Taylor

Debbie Henning is most likely living with the Cult people in Canada. She never really surfaced after Doug death, except to get his remaining illusions sold.
Of course, I am only guessing, but when a person turns their entire accumulation of wealth over to these kinds of organizations, I don't believe they "kick them to the curb". I seem to remember the leader also passed away several years later. I could be all wrong, I only had the magic magazines and ads to go by at the time. On Doug's last tour, he performed here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They had to rush him to the Hospital, I think it was appendicitis. I purchased his Spheres of Merlin poster he sold in backroom sales. I had it framed and on my wall ever since. I think it is a great magical poster in pastel colors. |

Hi Taylor I remember Doug on the TV as a kid, would be interested in the book you are reading. Could I have the title?
Thanks |

Most likely Taylor is referring to the book "Spellbound: The Wonder-Filled Life of Doug Henning" (John Harrison). Google the title to see where it can be purchased online (some links in older threads might be dead). Here's one thread that discussed it. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=110 - Donald

For what it's worth, I think her name is spelled "Debby", so maybe that will help with a search.
Neil McNally has created a website called The Doug Henning Project. His email address is doughenningproject@gmail.com, and he may be of some assistance. Good luck! Please let us know what you discover.

Maybe I am crazy but I recall hearing years ago that she had married the writer of [Men are from mars, woman are from Venus].

Richard,
That was Barbara DeAngelis, his first wife. The author of mars/venus was their chauffeur, and they started having an affair. It's in spellbound the book. Vinny |

Caesar's is now called Montbleu and has been for over a decade. The Sahara became the High Sierra, which became the Horizon. I played it at various times under each of those three names. Now the property has been subdivided, with one of the towers taken down for a time share or condo properties and the rest is a hotel casino with the Hard Rock name.
The Montbleu has shows mostly on weekends and occasionally during the winter months for longer runs. Rick Thomas, Tony Clark and others have had magic shows in that room on several occasions. Tony Clark also has a long history with the High sierra/ Horizon property... having played for years in the lounge showroom and produced shows as well. The main showroom (which was one of Elvis' favorites!) was converted to a multi cinema when the property was named the Horizon if I recall. I think it is all convention space now.
