Yes, this is (unsurprisingly) exactly what it appears to be in the as copy.
I got it anyway for $6 (?). And, I don't regret the buy. Nice to have options. I just recently began looking at LeVals stuff, and I like what I've seen. (btw, I'd recommend hypnotists take a look at ICAIS1/2) Back to Surrounded though. I had the same concerns, never liked behind the back handling. He clearly explains his approach, and the reasoning for it. (I haven't performed this as of yet btw). But, I can see this being a hard hitter. Nothing but presentation, presentation, presentation. I also appreciate that they (Penguin), and Lewis, priced this fairly.

I don't see why a good bill worker.
couldn't work this effect in front of himself. |

Of course. This is an easy variation that allows you to show your hands empty, take the bill behind your back, and the nearly instantly invite the spectators to watch the bill. The strength here is that the spectators will not think the bill was ever out of sight.
There are lots of other bill moves that could be done in sight, but everything has it's advantages and disadvantages.

I thought this was a pretty good solution for the serial # divination plot. While it may not be my "go-to" method I'm sure that I'll use it often in impromptu situations. The beauty is the simplicity itself...virtually no memory work, mechanically easy, no props other than a business card, and a set-up that takes mere seconds. Nice work by the Johnny Depp of mentalism

I can't see any magician doing this for serious. Actually I can't see any magician doing most of penguin 9$ dollar downloads.

Academy, you are correct. This really isn't very well-suited for magicians. This is a mentalism demonstration that could fit nicely within a working set of an impromptu routines AFTER establishing credibility as a thought reader. But as a stand-alone piece this might even be too bold for some mentalists.

The idea of putting the bill behind your back instantly arouses supspicion.
I don't think I've ever perfomed something where I put my hands behind my back. I would rather see it happen in an audience member's hands. No one remembers a subtle pyschological gesture of putting one's hands (thumbs) in their pockets. My two shillings on the subject. |
