SWORD LEVITATION - MUCH YEARS AGO I HAVE SEEN IT IN THE LIVING. A simple sword float the stage. I saw a book on sale - with this illusion - does anyone remember its name? Any thoughts.
I love the magic & history of magic! My favorites magicians - Dai Vernon, Max Malini, Fielding West, Michael Finney, Jeff Hobson, Bob Sheets, Nick Lewin, Harry Murphy, Dick Oslund- great showmen of magic!

Eugene, I believe you are assuming to much, when many say, nothing is new in magic, it has all been done before. More appropriate would be the saying that we stand on the shoulder of people that have gone before us.
Who invented this Sword Flight, it is as advertised, Lance Richardson and Sean Scott. They of course used methods and principles that have been invented, created, and used by many famous magicians. I see methods and principles from David Abbott, Finn Jon, Okito, and others who performed floating effects. I don't believe anyone came forward that invented the splitting of a silk effect. Many magic dealers copied it, but the instructions never had a name attached to it. Why they did not think that a sword cutting a silk in half, should still have pointed hemmed corners. It would not be a cheap or easy illusion to make, and looks like a theater with a stage, is required in this version. The machete type sword was a little disappointing for me. It would have nicer to have a realistic sword, that could be switched at the end for a real sword that could be used in another effect or swung around like a swordsman will do to get the feel and balance of a sword. Now that this is out, maybe someone will further enhance this illusion and make it excellent in the future. This is what happens when a new creation is rushed to market. I guess we will see if there will be additions in the future and we will see a version 2, 3, and 4. |
