I have to agree with Poof-Daddy. It's easier to use a regular deck. If you're looking for something that isn't technically difficult, you'd be better off with some books by Karl Fulves, in his self-working series, available from most book stores. There are some real gems there, including the classic Gemini Twins, among others.

I think solving the method without knowing the desired effect is a bad trap for beginner magicians.
The gaffed decks are a method to achieve an effect. Without knowing the desired effect, how can anyone recommend any method? Essentially, what you are asking is what can I buy that doesn't require any skill that will make me look like I could perform miracles. But you don't care what miracle, and you do not want to put any effort into your presentation. Instead, watch other magicians perform. Try to adopt a style. Create a character. Think of effects that complement your character. Then, determine what methods work best for you. Write out a script. Practice it. Edit your script. Practice it. don't buy props because it does something cool. Buy props that fit your routine. |

Lots of "bottom drawers" are filled with cool stuff that once bought wasn't so cool after all. 50 years ago I was a budding magician and gimmicks held great fascination for me. I received, as a gift, a "marked and stripped" Enardoe deck. At the time I thought it was the greatest thing ever. And that's OK! Beginners should have some fun and gaffs can be interesting and entertaining. But there comes a time when you realize that the props aren't the magic.
It's never crowded on the extra mile....

But for a bit over $100 we have WAKEN By Bond Lee. Gaffed deck? Yes! Self contained. Almost automatic. Concentrate on presentation. Here is a review:
