Hi John T.Sheets. I will check with some of my users to see if anyone has a QB3 to test it with.
Kind regards Matt G' |

I received my holder today and really like it. I've only played around with my Super Sharpie thus far but for this application it's excellent. The reason is because when you're ready to do the secret writing you need to extract the writer from the end of the Sharpie using your index finger and thumb. But you cannot write in this position... So, you have to adjust the writer so that it's attached to the pad of your thumb.
Normally, I would just press it against the writing surface to get into this position. But I found that I could press it against the BASE of holder during the action of putting the Sharpie away back inside my jacket pocket. It takes maybe an extra beat or two but the action itself is completely HIDDEN by your jacket. IMO this is much better than managing this adjustment in the open with less cover. Another benefit is the extra pocket space gained because the Sharpie is on the OUTSIDE of your inner jacket pocket. I also found that it was easy to quickly locate the Sharpie by feel. I attached my traditional lead boon writer to the composite holder and it also worked well. You could easily grab it while getting a piece of paper or business card from your pocket. This got me thinking that Matt's concept could be expanded to hold BOTH the Sharpie and maybe some center tear paper all within the same device. A magnet could be added similar to what Vernet did with their pocket key chain holder to facilitate taking it on and off. Finally, the design is smart because it CLIPS to your inside jacket pocket without and safety pins or hassle. You can use it in any jacket or coat that has an inner pocket. Plus, it's useful for storing your special Sharpies between gigs. I plan on buying at least 1 or 2 more of them...Perhaps Matt will give me a good deal for being such a good sales person |

Hey Jared
I’m so glad you like it. I’ll pop onto private massage you as I have a handling to get the writer straight onto the thumb which may be of use |

I received one of the sharpie holders today and love it. That's the new home for my double cross pen from now on.
If only it could somehow stop my fingers getting inky too... In the UK Merchant of Magic have it on the site now here: https://www.magicshop.co.uk/sharpie-holder-magicians I totally second Jared's findings about using it to position with Super Sharpie I's odd when it comes to sharpies... for some reason I tend to carry 3 in my inside jachet pocket, plus a double Cross, and sometimes a supersharpie. I'm constantly just dropping them vack into my pocket once out of play, so I have a sort of fishing session inbetween tables when I have to find the gimmicked pen at the bottom of my inner pocket... It's an inkfest! Hope this helps Dominic

They are made out of injection molded plastic. One piece. I must say that the design is very clever and simple. The clip part was designed to hold on to your clothing tightly. You take your regular sharpie and place it cap down in the holster. So, what that means is, yes, since the QB3 has a regular Sharpie cap which is the same size as any other, it will fit in the holster. So will the Coinvexed gimmick by the way. For use with either one, you would just leave it that way. In the case of the QB3, you just take two clips and put them side by side, one with the QB3 and the other for the...well you know. The cap will only lock if you twist it in which case when you pull the pen body out it will leave the cap in place. I do not have the Ultimate Sharpie holder so I cannot comment on it, at least from personal hands-on experience. As has been stated, it was designed for a specific purpose, just to hold the Sharpie. The Sharpie Holster, on the other hand, was designed to enable one to pull the Sharpie out without the cap. It just so happens that it can be used simply to hold a sharpie. For our use, either one will work. It just so happens that the Sharpie Holster is less expensive and one can purchase two of them for less than one Ultimate Sharpie holder. I am sure the Ultimate Sharpie holder would work just fine. However, it seemed to me that the cost-effective way to go was to purchase the two Holsters and I am very happy with them. (In addition, I will be able to lock the cap and pull the Sharpie which is good because I can use that function for non-magical things.) |

Hi
I just wanted to clarify where it was stated the Utiimate sharpie holder was just designed to simply hold a Sharpie. A lot more went into the design than simply to be a holder. The flat section of the clip allows the user to add extra force when sticking something like the super sharpie writer to the pad of the thumb. The height designed to mimic the height of where you would casually reach to retrieve a pen clipped in the pocket. Allowing you to also make it appear you are just reaching to your pocket to load and unload your stamper/writer The opening designed to not only hold many type of different sharpie gimmicks but also other effect using gimmicked pens not of the sharpie brand. The top section of the clip width is to prevent any twisting of the holder in the pocket so reloading is always easy to locate the hole and also to provide a distance barrier to prevent the ink residue from the top of the pen (when the stamper or writer is removed) getting onto the performers shirt. And finally the design process incorporated a surface width to mount accessories which will be releases over the coming months. Just didn’t want people thinking we have just made a standard sharpie holder as a lot of thought and design changes have gone in to this to make it a perfect working solution for a working Magician. As I’ve stated before I love the sharpie holster and glad it’s the right one for you but for double cross, super sharpie and mental pen I still think the USH is a more functional option from hands on experience. In an ideal world I’d love to get the price low however Our production cost are too high as we don’t have the potential market like the sellers for standard sharpies do. That said we ordered the sharpie holster from the company direct and they cancelled our order (I guess they don’t ship to the uk) but we managed to get it via their amazon page howeve total cost with shipping came to $29.14 for one unit. So I guess only a better option price wise if your are based across the pond |

I did not intend my comments to in any way malign it. Those who have the Sharpie effects mentioned above and also have the Ultimate Sharpie Holder are the ones who can best make a comment about its use. I was only stating that the holster was sufficient for the effects I have at present. I am sure a lot of time, thought, and money went into making the Ultimate Sharpie and in consideration of that, and that after all, creators are entitled to make a profit, the price is appropriate. Personally, I don't think any of us has the right to judge what the creator of an effect or utility should charge for it. I often see posts here stating that a particular item is overpriced or something to that effect. I do not think we should make comments like that because they might influence someone who has decided that he wants to purchase said item into not making that purchase. Such a comment does a disservice to the creator and those who think that the price is appropriate for them. What we are willing to pay for something is our own personal issue. So, I regret my prior post because I do not want anyone to get the idea that I do not think the Ultimate Sharpie is worth the requested purchase price. I was only trying to say that for my particular needs at this time, the purchase of two Sharpie Holsters was cost-effective. It is likely that the Holsters would not work for the effects the creator mentioned and that is an important consideration. |
