Randi Rains is the best one I have seen so far---as far as visual and with a story-line that makes sense. |

I assume we are referring to the the two versions that were made by Wellington Enterprises... not Collectors Workshop.

Really like Randi Rain’s take on this. Since in general the switchboard effect is handicapped by the fact that the obvious high tech solution is the correct one, making the board appear as crude and spare as possible helps sell the idea that the laws of the natural world are being broken. Question for Randi - do you have a background in theater apart from magic? You have some solid acting chops. Your character seems real from the beginning.
Also, for whoever is interested, Dennis Loomis’s article on the Wellington switchboard, originally published in the April 2011 edition of MUM Magazine, was republished last year by Michael Close in the ebook The Real Deal - A Magician Prepares. In addition to some interesting information on the history and development of the effect, it contains the scripting and instructions for Loomis’s five-phase routine for the Wellington switchboard, which he used to close his shows at venues from The Magic Castle to school assemblies. He felt the effect was best presented as a demonstration of magical powers rather than as a puzzle, and he developed a clever routine that did just that while justifying the prop.
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

It's a well written 7 page article with lots of photos explaining the various phases. This makes reading and understand the gist quick and easy. However I strongly believe that one can get different ideas for a particular prop/effect from various sources, but the final performance idea/patter/story-line must always be the performers own creation that suits his own style. Also IMO "The Real Deal - A Magician Prepares" is a must have and a must read ebook.

With the advancement and change in technology, these switch boards have become quite advanced with almost limitless mind-boggling possibilities. And with that, it has now become possible to have an easily portable battery operated props for the Stage. Need no 110/230Volt mains power outlet. Stage Version works on eight AA batteries. Uses high power 12 Volt, 8Watt LED bulbs. The bulbs are un-gimmicked and glow quite bright.

I have the small Cobra version which is really good too. It only has 3 bulbs and switches though. Looking forward to a review on Randi Rains version!

Got mine in the mail today. To sum it up in one word.....AWESOME! This is perfect. It really has that science fair look and feel to it. Randi went to great lengths to make this look rough and amateurish. Which really blows them away when the law of physics cease to exist in your world!
Even though it looks like a science class project...it is super devious and very high tech. Easy to do. Super fun. This has character....whereas all the other models seem sterilized and magicky in comparison. And it is priced very fairly. Highly recommended. |

Raincloud magic , Simply awesome. She also has an effect call bud light I think. I have it, I use it and it is as much fun to perform as it is to be seen. Back to switch board.

To revive this thread, I just placed my order for the Magic Switchbox IV. When Jacques sent the link download it says page can not be found. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to share the link here. But I'm willing to share it via PM or email if you already have the prop. In order to see if it there is something wrong with it. Thanks.

I actually already received a response from Jacques, and he resent the link and it works fine. I've had excellent communication with him and would recommend his company to anyone.

I’ve been waiting for a deal on a used Magic Switchbox III SE+. That opportunity arrived on Monday night at the Ring 76 annual Swap Meet. $25 for one in perfect, like-new condition. Except, it didn’t include any instructions. I emailed Jacques and he responded very quickly and supplied me with the necessary links. I’m still learning the intricacies of this fun effect.

I recently ordered the Magic SwitchBox III SE+ and I am impatiently awaiting its delivery. In advance, Jacques sent me the instructions and I must say that I am very positively surprised by the multiple possibilities of this switchboard. Ustaad's positive appraisal of the SwitchBox series is more than justified in my eyes. Furthermore, the customer support is excellent. I have already sent Jacques several inquiries and he has always responded promptly and very friendly and competent. My highest recommendation.
