On my new journey back into magic after twenty odd years I decided I wanted a decent chop cup early on. Back in the day I had one and used it a lot.
After much research I procured a wooden one from the very delightful Gareth at Hidden Wren Magic here in the UK. It arrived this morning. Wowsers. I don't remember props being this good. It's made from Mexican Bocote and the turning, finish and cut is sublime. It feels so nice to handle. There's some interesting things about it: - It looks, well, normal. Like the kind of thing you might well have in your house to put things in. It looks like a nicely made wooden cup from a craft shop. It doesn't look like a prop. - The bottom inside is nicely curved. With a deft subtle swirl you can put either ball in the cup and drop them back out into your hand very easily. - It makes less noise when put down compared to how I remember the metal ones. Interesting. - It came with adjustable ball. - Load is big. Like nearly 3" big, but doesn't feel unwieldy. I got a big load ball with it which is 2 5/8" diameter and fits in lovely. Lemons and Limes, tennis balls and baseballs will be no problemo. - It comes in a really nice drawstring bag. All in all, it's exceptional. Was sent next day by Gareth and arrived super quick. Lovely guy to deal with and I'm really stoked. First purchase since getting back into it and it's a corker. https://i.imgur.com/F3ocb5f.jpg https://i.imgur.com/bjvImxP.jpg |

------ I really didn't know how to explain it. So I told them the truth, and they fell for it! |

Garett is awesome. He made me the chalice chop cup, a nice wand and a mini table for coins through the table. Highly recommended.

I guess when you are making furniture and so on you can get hold of some seriously high quality wood - and that's the most impressive bit for me, the wood quality is outstanding |

Is that the Elegance Chop Cup?
The oak version looks stunning but I'd go for the Ropalo Lacewood as the patterned wood has that old parlour magic look which I love. |

It's just lovely to look at and handle. Load is huge, but the design means that even a smaller load looks impressive tbh. It's properly Rolls Royce quality. |
