I searched and searched on the Café and didn't see a thread for this. I have no clue why one doesn't exist!
Alan Rorrison did another At the Table lecture on March 7th, 2018 and it seems to have flown under everyone's radar. Alan taught a beautifully clean ACAAN and a nice variation on Hofzinser's Ace Problem But what really stood out were effects Alan shared which utilized technology. Alan GAVE AWAY an incredible which hand device for free. It's a free program that allows you to know which hand someone is holding a coin or ring in. I will be downloading and playing with this ASAP. So good. I couldn't believe it was something he was giving away for free. Most creators would have sold this for $50 or more -- no joke! He also taught a method which allows the spectator to pick a bill from their wallet, text a number, and the friend on the other end reveals what denomination the bill is AND what the serial number is. He transitions from that into teaching a similar effect using any named card. They name a card, text a number, and the performer's friend replies with the correct card. Both of those are done without any stooges and by using an incredibly powerful (and super cheap) application for the magician's phone (which is never really in play. The spectator texts from their own phone.) The only downside is it can only be done with Android, but Alan suggests buying a super cheap, $15 android to use for this effect. It certainly seems like you can do some crazy strong effects with this one bit of knowledge. Alan also does an effect where the magician folds one of his bills into quarters. The spectator opens up a browser on the performer's phone, goes to the real google and does a google search for pictures of origami. They turn the phone over and scroll through the images and touch the screen to select one unknowingly. The magician never goes near the phone in any of the process. The performer then begins to quickly fold the bill into a piece of origami. It folds at lightning speed. When they turn the phone over, they discover an image of the very same origami character that the performer just made. This is SO good! The forcing method is superb and can be used in so many different ways. It requires an android, but again, you can get one for $15 and be ready to perform. Sheesh it is powerful and clean. I could also see this being fun to use with those original tissues from SEO magic. You pull a tissue from the box, toss it in the air, and it folds into the shape they select. It would go hand-in-hand. You can also use the force method for literally just about anything. Another versatile principle which you could run with. My favorite from the lecture was the last 15 minutes or so where Alan has the spectator open up their own phone, find ANY drawing app online and make a drawing. Alan turned around and immediately duplicated the drawing. He then had Marc (the spectator) open up any application on his phone and scroll through it until he found something he liked (a word, image, video, etc) and Alan immediately began to describe it. Alan also discussed using this as a book test by having them find any book online, choose any word, and you instantly know the word. This one is actually kind of scary. It is phenomenal how real, authentic, and innocent it appears. I will be giving this a shot and playing with it. If I can get confident with it, I will certainly be using it in the near future All in all, this was one of my favorite At the Table lectures. If you like technology magic (even hidden technology) then I think you should get this. It really pushed the envelope on what is possible with technology nowadays. Highly recommended! Madison |

Just as a note, at the end Alan mentions an app available on Android and then someone points out it is also available on iPhone.
Don’t purchase the iPhone version. It does not do the same thing the android version does. You won’t be able to perform those routines with the iPhone app. Madison |

The "which hand device" you mentioned is an app or something entirely different?

It is an app for a pebble watch that you get free with the lecture.
