As someone who had their house destroyed by a hurricane, I think I have some real perspective on this. JoeJoe arguing against evacuating is stupid and there is no way to make it sensible. All evacuations are voluntary, they can't make you go. If someone told you a hungry lion was somewhere in your backyard, the prudent thing to do would be to not go there. Sure, you may go there and survive. But, sensible behavior is to avoid danger. There are always people that think they are brave or whatever by tempting fate. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. It's your life, do what you want. However, please stop insulting our intelligence by idiotic rationalizations. It was simply a choice. Viewed from what was the prudent thing do, you did the opposite. You survived. If you were on the eastern wall of the eye, it would have been a different outcome. If you had young children with you, would you have done the same? Probably not.

JoeJoe, did you survive?

Yes, of course I survived.
The other day I went to the flood zone to help an elderly couple move some heavy furniture out of their house, doubt I will ever forget that smell. Four sleeper sofas ... those things are heavy enough on their own, water log them and they can't be budged, had to break them apart. Covered in some type of molding toxic sludge, ugh. These people were all outside the evacuation zone, but left anyway ... they came home and were fine for a week before the flood waters came. They bought the house about ten years ago, they filled a swamp in with sand and built houses on it - like duh!! The entire community pretty much wiped out. They spent their life saving on a house they can't live in, and can't sell. -JoeJoe

He even went so far as to put down a book he had never read saying "it's only use would be for kindling" or something like that. Interestingly enough, he had never even mentioned the topic of survival before the auther of that book began posting. He had and has no respect for others opinions and thinks he knows it all when it comes to survival. So while I often don't agree with Danny's position on many things, in this case he is 100% spot on. imgic, you can follow Joey if you want but I can assure you that if you do, your likelihood of being hurt or worse in a survival situation, increases exponentially with every word you take to heart. But do what you want as "there are none so blind as those who will not see." An affliction btw that also plagues Joey both figuratively and literally.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.
If I'm not responding to you? It's because you're a TROLL! |
