Let's face it,
Winter, is a Pie-in-the-Face, for Street-Performers(!). Macadamia Key Lime., ...blatch. Let's face it. "..laughing and splashing in the summer-sun, 'till the winter-winds wake me." "The frolic foolishness of youth, they believe the summer will never end." ...i was feeling really YOUNG this past year! Six,..Eight,....TEN weeks of non-stop,.... 'drop-your-hat-when-and-where-you-please-weather'! ...i seriously believed it would continue 'til mid-January. ,...that's when 'I' planned to retreat. ,....to the warmth of memorys, 'brat-apfeln', good books, and 'money-earned'. A month and a half ago, Monika and I plowed west, out of the sweet-milk-hospitality of eastern Europe. Back into the industrial reality, of the 9 to 5 'west'. The Siberische beast-of-the-east had settled in northern Russia, by the middle of October. ...it was coming our way. Our plan: Cross Germany, over to the Rhein. Pendel the Rhein,..north/south, as the weather tides. UP and down, and UP and down, ..and back and forth and three times 'round'(!..!), ...we crossed the ''Red Head's Mountains"(!), of central Germany. {Once,..I swear,..I saw my trailer,....IN FRONT OF ME!} We made it to the Rhein. In Leverkusen we kiss her, (...before 'baptising' in her.) Parked next to the Bayer 'Aspiren' Factory(!). (,,..monika had NO excuse that night!) We then looked thru weather maps, winter forecasts, scientific studys,.. before rolling the dice,.. and deciding to head south. "South." 'South' simply *sounds* warm! Two weeks ago, we were playing Leverkusen, with 16*C....+(!). Today, we're sitting in Neuwied,... 100 kilometers *south*.... 0*, ... - Forecast: "Snow by Tuesday. Temperatures to drop,...farther." Why am I writing? Street Performing IS a Pie-in-the-Sky profession! ,...but every now and then, you get that Pie-in-the-Face! Coffee. Ofen. Blankets. ....memorys, 'brat-apfeln', good books. Wipe your face, ...lick your fingers. Forget the 'money-earned'. ,...forget the 'money-burned'. Summer *may* end, ....just as the Winter surely will. A piece of pie, anyone? Gallagher |

Since it is too cold to work in Germany, you may want to park your rig and bring your lovely wife across the ocean for a visit to the land of shoefly pie!

Here in Pennsylvania December cold
means grandparents taking grandchildren to holiday shows. When I can find a spot in the sun that it out of the wind, people stop and the dollar amount of the tips increases as the temp drops. I can only last about an hour until the cold seeps into my bones, but it is a good hour. The offer of a warm bed and shortly pie is still on the table, Gallagher! |

I still remember Snoopy's feet dragging on the ground, and him almost tipping over on top of us. I'll stick with watching it on TV!

Good morning Ed 'Rhode-Island' Rhodes(!),
'The Hallmark of Walmarkt'(!...!). Ed, what for timing! My,..our,..first day,...'coming out'. (🙃) Everything is un-loaded. I've come in to enjoy 'the last breakfast'. I pop on the box, as Monika pours the eggs and scrambled coffee,... {NERVOUS!..?!!! WHO'S NERVOUS!} ....Ed Rhodes greets me. 5* C. It would have been easy to stay under the covers. It was a 'smile-on-the-face' hearing from you! 💋 Good morning world! Count your chickens. Wash your windows. Throw a HANDFULL of salt, over your partner's shoulder. The Pie-season has begun!...! "YEAHHHHHHH!" Wish everyone, ...a big slice. Gallagher p.s.: Ed, the first Song is for you. 'Ain't She Sweet',....we sing it: 'Uns Geht's Gut'. ,.....the 'push' into town,,...down hill. 😊 |

Well la-dee-da let's be thankful for spring. Here it is "Atlantic Beach Pie" aka "lemon milk pie", "down east lemon pie", or to some "lemon meringue pie". Or probably the pie most identified with NC, "Sweet Potato Pie". And, I'll take a "Pecan Pie" any day where it isn't enough to have granulated sugar, you need it in liquid form too! Perhaps a poem about Karo Syrup is in order

For my friend FlightRisk.
THE PIE'S ALWAY SWEETER A cold coal-black Guinness, with a warmer then hot Shepherd Pie. Un Omelett Fromage, avec Chateauneuf du Pape, ....please dry. Jäger Schnitzel mit Pommes, ein Erdinger Weiß-Bier mit Schüß(!). Poffeteurs with cocaine sugar(!..!), ...Godiva chocolait creme with nuss! Sitting here, before a Show, in sun of Café Magique; with croissants, caviar,.. and 'grand Dame' Monique. Stirring drops of Toscana honey, in malted Lavazza coffee. ...wondering "How do they get that milk,.. so full and fest and floffy!..?" I have to think, ....surrounded with the simple mundane boring things of Europe: I'd put them ALL in an Ikea blue bag, ..and trade it, with a smile..... ,for a 'mug of Joe' ....and plate of Aunt Jemima's ......with Caro Syrup! {But, I guess, for the good of man-kind, I'll sit here, bite my lip, squeeze my cheeks; try to turn a Show ...and endure it.} . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Have a 'good Friday'! Flight Risk...Welcome! I'd love to swop some recipes ..you're obviously a man with taste! Springtime.... it bubbles with Life, doesn't it. smiles, gallagher |

"Swop" recipes? Anytime, my friend Gallagher! And I understand German well enough to enjoy your amazing poem on a European level (despite my American limitations). Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! Have a great holiday weekend!
