As a beginner practicing with cards I often find that my fingers feel too short for some moves. They aren't, I am sure. It's a matter of practice. But does anyone know good exercises to learn better how to spread the fingers that can be practiced without the cards (for example during some 15 seconds at work)? Though I do carry a deck with me, it's not so useful to have it always laying open next to me...

I know you're interested in cards, but learning the coin roll down seems like just what you looking for. Get four Eisenhower dollars at a coin shop. There about 1.10 each(get the clad ones). You start with the stack between your index and middle fingers. Then roll down using the thumb until you've got one between each of the fingers. I never learned how to do all four, but three works. You'll be exceeding your fingers and learning a cool flourish.
