Hi All
I wanted to ask about electonic impression devices in a close up scenario. I am looking to invest in one of them...but with all of the tricks out there the impression shows up on a mobile phone..which is great but it means you have to get your mobile phone out during the act which to me means seems unprofessional. I realise you can have it sent to a mobile watch as well but then whilst performing you have to look at your watch and you may get caught. My question is how do you get around this ? As its bothering me enough to currently stop me investing. Any help would be much appreciated. |

I wouldn't think that a closeup scenario would call for an electronic impression device. There are many options available that would work well and cost little. What effect do you think you need an electronic impression device for?

I've always been interested in Labco's devices as well as electronic wipeboards, but my issue with them is what I have described above. I do some stage/parlour shows, but not enough to warrant the investment, which is why I'm working out if I can use it in Close Up as well, then it is worth it.
However even in a Parlour show where its just me on stage, I don't know how I would get to look at my phone to get the information. I'm wondering how everyone else gets around this ? |

Electronic devices represent and several hundred dollar investment. I don't know if you already use an impression device, but if you don't, consider either a Pyspher or Paralabs impression pad.

I use my Mind Pad in stand up situations and house the phone in a Telethought Pad which is on my table. Although you can also do this for close up, I use other methods then as they are more practical and also allow me to use business cards to write on to hand out. The Mind Pad however is very strong as it’s hands off and that’s why I use it for stage. Even on stage however, I will still use other peek methods throughout the act.
Hope this helps.
