Video review:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq2nMlzVVQE

This is a new GAFF deck that was released on KICKSTARTER from Bocopo cards.
I know it's now for sale on PENGUIN here: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S26103

It's very much a copy of the GAFF "effect deck" they sold a while back from 1st Magic Studio (seen here: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/4121 ).

In this video, I compare this new deck side by side with 4 other recently released GAFF decks. Showing the "similar cards" we see in all of these decks.

My question to this community ... can all of these cards / tricks be identified back to their original creators? It's a little sad that many of these cards are now printed with no mention of their origin story. At the end of my review, I call for people to POST "credit where credit is due" if anyone knows.

I honestly only know a few, Presto Printo by Daryl and Michael Skinner's Ultimate 3 Card Monte.

Or are many of these cards just "ol standards" with no specific effect tied to them?

It'd be an interesting conversation.

Thanks for your time.

I didn't search as your post was new and had links. I'll look at this place.

The biggest problem with these gaff decks, and I’ve said it before, is that these cards scream to be handed out as souvenirs. If you’ve only got one of each, forget it. Please start selling these as ‘single card’ deck refills. Then you can hand out at your hearts content.

True, but the other half of these cards are "secret weapons" that are hidden and that assist you in effects. The "best gaff cards" should never be seen at all

I just got one from the new shipment from penguin. There are no instructions in the package. Does anyone have the link? I can send my proof of purchase. I am waiting for penguin to reply back also.

Michael Skinner can be credited for a routine using the gimmicked cards in his minute routine, but he can’t be credited for the creation of the gaffs used. I’m on vacation so don’t have access to Greater Magic where I believe the originator can be found.

Bob Farmer lays out the history of gaffed monte routines here, so you can read the evolutionary path from Theodore DeLand to Mike Skinner (and beyond):
