The Transcendental Bar Bet - Paul Harris
$10.00 https://www.murphysmagic.com/product.aspx?id=63090 The Hype: The Transcendental Bar Bet is the PH completely hands off, in your face (and on the table), card vanish. Oh yeah, the deck is completely normal, there are no duplicates, and you never touch it during the vanish. The spectator actually vanishes the card themselves. And... you can make the card reappear in all types of strange and marvelous places! My Take: If you are like me, seeing the name Paul Harris on a trick makes me want to see it, to play with it. You know it will always be something inventive and clever. This is a very visual effect and easy to do. The basic mechanics of the trick are something that I have seen used before in different ways. Hadn't seen this one though. If you watch the promo video, I don't think it shows just how magical this looks. You have a deck on the table with a card face up. Each end of the deck is covered by half of a business card. (Borrowed and torn in two). Your spectator is shown how to just bump the deck on each end with her fingers and even gets a little practice session. Then for the magic. You don't touch the deck. She bumps the deck on each end and instantly the card changes to a different card. The deck can be examined and the original card is gone. You can make it reappear from anywhere you would like. Bro Gilbert makes it appear inside of a bottle of beer. There is no palming and no loading moves. This is about as clean as it gets. And it is a jawdropper. Usually for a change this visual the magician has to do the moves himself. When you spectator gets to do the work, it takes a huge lot of suspicion from you. I never used to be a fan of downloads but this is a convincer. I have become more and more enamored with them for a couple of reasons. First of all, the price is usually very cheap. You can quite often receive the effect the day you order it. There is huge selection of effects available from short videos to DVD length videos to pds's of full length books. This amount of material makes it easy to be very selective and look for the best bang for the buck. When a name like Harris is involved, you know you will get something you will be using. I believe this is from his True Astonishment DVD set. He has apparently decided to release several of the effects from the set for those who did not purchase the whole set. However, it does not seem to be within his Art of Astonishment book set. Conclusion: Nice visual effect in Paul Harris' inimitable style Easy to do and the fact that it happens right in the spectator's hand is a real selling point. Plus, IT'S ONLY 10 BUCKS! This is one you need to have. |
