I'm wanting to try several tricks that use rubber cement lately.
I'm wondering if there are any newer and neater or possibly less caustic alternatives to rubber cement available nowadays. Anyone have a favorite replacement for talk for Clippo type uses? I'm thinking along the lines of tapes or glue sticks that might work for mock-ups if not for the final project as well. Anyone out there getting creative to save time? If you have brand names and sources that would help. I've worked on a couple of projects that only work with certain brands or strengths of glues and after acquiring the tricks found the glues unavailable in America. Thank you. - Mary Mowder |

Mary,
Just curious as to why good old-fashioned rubber cement is causing you problems. If it's an allergy issue, then I get that. When I bought my first Clippo at about the age of ten, I remember how the rubber cement had a light coating of either talc or baby powder. Gerry |

It smells like it is not good for you and it is messy to work with.
I'm just wondering what the state of the art is. One of the tricks I want to try uses several layers of rubber cement that need to dry in between. I'd like a less time intensive way to make a few mock ups to see if I'm doing the set up right and if I really like the trick. I'm willing to use rubber cement but only if I have to. There are new products out all the time and I am curious about what others are using. I don't have a big problem with talc but I'm guessing any white powder would work. -Mary Mowder |

Mary, I wonder if a repositionable glue could work for your practice/mock ups?

I tried it and it did not work but I like the way you're thinking.
My Elmers re-positionable glue is kind of old so someone else may wish to try it. I did try using several layers, no luck. -Mary Mowder |

What about 3M spray mount repositionable adhesive? Not sure of spray pattern or if it is a use in well ventilated area. You would have to research it.

Rubber cement works... and is till available in almost any office shop. Why re-invent the wheel.
There are other things that will work, but all of them are more expensive |
