Has anyone heard of the tricks' sources, chink-a-chink, and hugs and kisses?

Look at David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Book for chink-a-chink. It's his bare handed coin assembly.

Yes, Dan. In ECM Roth cites Yank Hoe with the original C-a-C in Hilliard's The Art of Magic (1909).

It would appear that sugar cubes came later with Leipzig.

Hi Gang,
Hugs And kisses, Had Three Halfs With
X's cut in them And three English Pennys With round holes cut in them. And the Round Holes
And the X's Change places one at at time. So at the end The English Pennys had X's cut in them and the Halfs had round holes in them! This happened under two covers! One with An x on it. And one with An o on It! Many years ago I worked out A handleing with the set useing just the hands. So you did not need the covers! Ok so I hope this helps!

"Chink-A-Chink" is in "Stars of Magic."

An earlier source is Tarbell #5.

Earlier yet is Edwin Sach's "Sleight of Hand," the routine is called "Sugar." Its in the second edition (1885), and "probably" the first edition as well.
