Magical greetings to all
On an xmas special compendium of magic type programme, there is a trick performed by Fred Kaps. In the trick he starts with seven cards which need to be red... One is black. He removes it, and continues, however the black card is still there etc etc, until the last card, shown as red turns into a black card. Could anyone tell me please, what is the name of this trick? Does it require a gaffe? Where might I be able to find this trick in print? Thanks in advance Magic Stu.

Hi Paladin,
that should be a version of the Homing Card. As far as I know, this was one of Kaps' favorite tricks. It's pure sleight of hand and can be performed impromptu. A modern classic. You can find an excellent version (using four red cards and the Ace of Spades as the Homing card) in The Classic Magic Of Larry Jennings. There is also a Larry Jennings Video from A1, so you can watch the master performing it. I'm not quite sure, but I think, Jennings invented the trick. Maybe some knowledgeable person out there can answer this. Hope this helps Uli |

OOPS! In his best AC impersonation: "Sorry for this!" Make that "also."

No, Jenning didn't invent the darn trick. Give it a rest!
Kaps delighted in performing "The Homing Card," found on page 13 of "Show Stoppers With Cards" by Hugard and Braue (1948). |
