The answer is that there is essentially 1 effect that needs an expensive prop. There are other effects that can use items that are not that expensive but they can equally be done using the other methods included in the book. As to the price of the app, not sure what it costs today but I paid about 20 quid. Technically there is only one effect in the book. The Free Will effect. However, there are multiple methods and multiple presentations included which in most cases can be mixed and matched. For example, you can apply the Rock Paper Scissors presentation in Free Will Rock you, to the method in the first version in the book. Likewise you could apply it to the method for the final version. You could also apply several of the methods to multiple other effects. The duality principle could very easily be applied to a RPS effect. The final method could be applied to almost any prediction effect. However the book is an exploration of the Free Will plot so I wouldn’t expect anyone to use all 15 versions. Like myself, I suspect most readers will settle on a few that they will use in different circumstances. I personally use the first version in close-up, the last one in stand up shows, I sometimes use free balling in stand up as well. I use fuel injected free will for impromptu performances. Free Will Rock you I use in casual performances when I go out prepared to perform. I also love Mark Elsdon’s which again I will use for casual performances sometimes. If I wanted to perform over the phone I would use Michael Murray’s. As I mention in the book, some I no longer use, but included them because they were part of the journey. Likewise sometimes I use my Shiva wallet instead of the Chandaulope, If you like the Free Will plot I would be surprised if you do not find a few versions that suit you. I would be equally surprised if every single version suits you. The book is priced to reflect the fact that it is essentially a single effect book. However it is also priced to reflect the quality of the physical book with line drawn illustrations and every effort having been made to make it as much an enjoyable read as an instructional one. Sure I could have had it printed through Lulu with photos instead of illustrations and sold it for half the priced whilst gaining a larger profit margin but I have no interest in releasing anything less than a high quality product. Mark - I did not say you did not know your book. That is frankly ridiculous.
Your comments are now so defensive that I’m genuinely sorry that I reached out and asked a question. Sadly, the poor reviews out there that are currently commenting on how many expensive props this needs will continue. Partly because you prefer the fawning accolades on here that prevent a perfectly reasonable question being asked and answered. God only knows why you’re twisting it, but as you are now so defensive that you’re misrepresenting what was said, I’m definitely out. If/when I get the book I’ll give an honest review, including the props and cost needed. Good luck and I still wish you well as I did before. |

An answer it which you was pointed in the right direction even before Mark chimed in, yet still stated you needed to “research” more. Your questions have been passive aggressive from the get go, so don’t expect an answer to be anything but deserving of your general tone.

My comments are not in the least defensive. I answered your original question honestly. You replied, and for the avoidance of all doubt, I am paraphrasing here, “With all due respect, that’s not what Dan says. Well as Dan didn’t write the book, are you really that surprised that I took offence? If you had wanted me to go into more detail I gladly would have. Having met me at Minds etc you should know I have neither heirs nor graces and will tell you whatever you want to know, even to the point of teaching you any or every effect in the book if you ask nicely.
I am not in the slightest defensive I gave you an accurate answer and there are enough people on this forum with the book to call me on it if a word I said wasn’t honest. This forum is not known for people pulling their punches or being afraid to call BS on a creator. If you wonder why your questions got the responses they received you may wish to take a look at the tone and manner you used when you posed your question and responses to the answers. Mark |

Not to sound negative or defensive or like I am disagreeing with anyone....I bought the book and look forward to it. If Michael Murray carries it, more than likely, I will love it.

But I can't seem to find the Facebook group. Is this still around? Anyone got a link? A search for it came up with nothing. |
