I have performed magic for many years and am now interested on possibly becoming a magic dealer. I have a business license for a small gift shop and was wondering what I need to do to start a magic store business. Any ideas to get me started?

It's easy to make a million dollars in the magic business...start with two million!
It's a tough business, small market, and, a lot of competition from Internet sales. Many traditional "brick and mortar" shops closing their doors (I will miss Al's in Wash DC). Do some serious market research first. How many magicians in your area? Where do they shop? Read my interview with Mike Mills, manager of the Pendragons. He tried a shop for a while, then got out of the shop as it just wasn't paying. (Sorry, I just remembered, you have to buy the Success in Magic course to get the interview). I would suggest getting a job in someone else's shop first. Get some experience before investing your own money. |

My father had magic shops for over 15 years. The only good place to do this kind of a business is a place that has lots of people traffic to pitch magic to.
The internet and all the magic shops are a hard thing for business. There are a lot of people selling magic to a small market. So tourist magic shops may be the answer. Do your homework! Location location location! I hope this helps.
