Is the gimmick at all fundamentally different from the original, or is there just less included with the package?

Gimmick is the same. Ready to go from the box. But the original contained a blank with extra stickers and a bag. You can find the differences listed here:

Hi. I just received my RD Insta Lite cube from Todsky’s and am unable to access the Vimeo tutorial for the effect, again. I clearly do not know how to use the Vimeo site. Could someone please PM. me and I will provide the Address and Password that came with my cube (as proof that I do own it). Then, if you could send me a link to the tutorial, it would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Is it just me? Next time you watch somebody do a RC trick, observe the audience. And I mean a real audience, not one of those videos with plants watching, ready to leap into frenzied hoots of laughter and screams of amazement, but a normal audience. Seem underwhelmed, don 't they? Not surprisingly, for what would a magician do with a cube except solve it? "See this cube? Whammo. I fixed it." Or, as the observers would hear it, " See this? Watch me fix my mechanical cube quickly." "Or, as Tony Corinna once observed, "So what?" And it's over in a millisecond. It strikes me as more of a flourish than a magic trick. In fairness, the one under review reportedly seems to be nicely made, and, from reading posts on this and other sites, there seem to be a lot of people out their who happily collect self-working props for their own amusement.

I do quite a bit of Rubik's Cube stuff when I perform and I've always received great reactions, whether it be at the Magic Castle or an audience in a backyard show. I use both gimmicked and ungimmicked props (I'm old school and believe one should learn to solve the cube legitimately...plus it makes life a lot easier.) It's a relatable prop that has a plethora of interesting premises and routines. I saw Steven Brundage at the castle a few weeks ago and I'm not kidding when I say it was one of the most lively audiences I've ever been a part of, and that act consisted of 20 minutes of nothing but cube magic.
