Tablehopping a buffet has prolly been one of my biggest challenges lately! Haha feel free to watch the video and discuss how you handle these issues yourself! Would love to get some dialogue going and see if anyone else has any suggestions themselves! I’m open to trying new things on my next shift!

I think your biggest asset is your energy. For the right table maybe just not sure about what you want to accomplish it is the very thing that will put them over the edge. In order to work the buffet style of restaurant (Which I simply would never do.) your energy level is perfect! It might be too high for some other places, but in this situation I think it will require the energy level you have to keep them interested.
I think that will be the key. Everything done will be done with that sort of level. Good on ya for trying new things.

Thanks so much! I agree. The energy I exude is definitely part of what makes it work.

OH no question about it! Without that specific trait, there is no way I can even see it coming close to working.
I personally could never make it work. My personality simply does not allow for it. But at least I know my limitations!

Haha I mean you never know till you try. I can see different personalities pulling it off. It all comes down to your attack. How do you go into it. Someone told me the way they do it is by leaving something at the table like a napkin or puzzle and coming back later and using it in some way. This way they build suspense before approaching the table.

I have only worked after the meal like we did at Schulien's. It has worked perfectly for me and I see no need to change. I have never worked buffets because of the challenges. I really only work the fine dining places.
I am afraid no I could not adapt LOL. But thank you for your faith!

I had a 3-month gig years ago very similar to yours. I hated it! They customers are there to eat! They want to eat all they can to get their money’s worth! And you are correct, when the customers are done eating management wants to turn the tables over. It seems very counterproductive to me. I was very happy when management came to their senses and discontinued the entertainment.
The only good thing is I was able to claim I "Appeared regularly at the Sands Casino." Of course, it closed not too long after that.

Thanks for sharing the video and your thoughts. I worked a casino and had to have a casino employee shadow me in the event someone claimed I took their watch or other personal property. ( I asked and that's what they told me) The staff told me some shocking stories. I was not allowed to use cards on the main floor but in the restaurants it was fine.
I personally don't have many issues, regarding buffets vs my restaurant work. The same obstacles, peronality types, human nature and attitudes exist. Positive as well as negative. Yes a friendly "confident" demeanor is essential. If YOU KNOW through experience that your magic is good and has been well received it makes a big difference in your confidence level which does elicit positive attention. (In most cases) Some patrons think they are expected to tip when you perform so that could be a reason for a refusal. I'm excited about what I do and want others to share that with me. I tell them what they are about to see has been performed in Vegas (and it has, rope routine / Mac King.... Egg Bag / Jeff Hobson etc.) I don't have a bland personality and say "Do you wanna see a trick"? It's all about a friendly, caring and genuine personality that has something fun and amazing to share. I hope they share the short journey with me. Like you said in another one of your videos; Don't say "NO" FOR potential spectators, put the burden on them, so to speak. Thanks again for sharing your professional experiece.

It's a VERY challenging gig indeed!!! You have the perfect situation for strolling....then you go to the extreme opposite on the realm. This buffet gig IS that extreme opposite. The only saving grace is the payoff they hand you at the end of the night!
