Hello Gerald!
Yes, Thomas Pohle is still building - thank God - and is in fact better than ever. See what he's been up to here: https://www.thomaspohle.com and here: https://www.martinsmagic.com/?s=thomas+p......t_wcas=1 Enjoy!

Had a dealer mail me back about his effects and told me they no longer sell his effects due to very soft materials being used making them very prone to warpage. Anyone else hear this?

I never heard that, but his props do use lean panels with close tolerances. It is the only way he can create small intimate props with intricate workings. I have well over a dozen of Thomas's props and haven't had a problem with any of them. Of course with any wood product, proper storage is essential.
You may want to reach out to Joe Long who is a member here. He is very familiar with Mr. Pohle's work and could probably help you with your search.

Here's a Thomas Pohle item for a mere $1,400.00 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Thomas-Pohle-Co......XBdePD0G and I'm not the seller. Just happened upon it.

I have a china tower that has hung up since the day I bought it, I'm very disappointed and it wasn't cheap.

Evidently he builds each effect in short runs on request from Joe. Asked about Diamond Ball and was told that it was not available at the moment but he was going to contact Phole to build a short run of it due to several requests from other collectors.

This is the first person I have run across that encountered problems with Phole's effects. I know this can be very frustrating not to speak of the expense, we have all been there. However I believe Mr. Phole is a reputable craftsman and if contacted would help you solve the problem.

And for the record Gerald, Joe is one of the coolest online dealers and one of the most knowledgeable collectors I have ever met. And, an all around standup dude in general. He by far has the best magic list I have ever encountered, which includes many rarities offered at fair prices with spot-on descriptions. I have been a customer of his for more years than I can count, and have purchased more props from him then I can count. And in all of those dozens and dozens of transactions, I've only encountered a couple of very minor bumps in the road. And almost instantly, Joe comes to the rescue and finds a way to smooth those bumps out.
Joe is a mensch through and through. Just a friendly warning though. His lists are as enticing as the old Sears Christmas catalogues...only sent out far more often than once a year...and each one more tempting than the last.

I can't resist effects like Phole builds and I use everything I collect so Joe's site is right up my alley. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction Wizard.

I have recently been lucky enough to get my self China Block Surprise II, I had seen some demos off the effect being performed and was amazed at the illusion of the block passing through the slide. I thought I had a good idea how it was being achieved but when it arrived and I had a look I was no where near the method, it’s ingenious and diabolical in its working, and so easy to perform its more or less self working. This is one of those effects that just puts a smile on your face when you perform it, THE ILLUSION IS PERFECT.

Thanks for the review TomTom59.
In my mind, Mr. Pohle is one of magic's most talented builders working today.
