It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Ed Fowler, E. Raymond Carlyle. Anyone who knew Carlyle knew what a talented and generous magician he was as well as a great wealth of magic history and experience. He is missed.

I remember him attending the first East Coast Spirit Sessions and doing a workshop on the 'Red Light Seance'. I was lucky enough to have his autograph on my copy of Seance, the Kaufman edition of the periodical. He was a kind warm hearted gentleman. RIP.

I remember watching him teach how to do his "Medium's Grip" at one of the last Weerd Weekends. He was a fantastic thinker.

When I was asked to perform the seance at House of Cards in 2018, I emailed Ed to let him know. He asked if I had some time on Sunday afternoon to do a Skype session with him; I said that I did. That Sunday, Ed spent 3 hours going over the entire performance and explanation of the seance that he use to perform at the Magic Castle! I was completely floored by his kindness and generosity. We truly have lost a legend and a great man. I'm going to miss him.

I also had a Skype session with Ed where he taught me his method to turn his haunted key. My young (at that time) son sat in the background and watched as Ed kindly and enthusiastically coached me and spoke about magic history. Spending that time with Ed is a special memory that I won’t forget, I am grateful for the experience.

I didn't know him or about him, so I really hope this doesn't sound insensitive or is too soon. I heard about his haunted key and ordered it from his site yesterday. Does anyone know if they're still shipping? I don't know if I should write the site or not, I feel stupid now even having to ask but just saw this.
