I have been adding real Morgan coins to my collection, and I purchased a shimmed slippery sam Morgan, with matching magnetic Morgan and matching regular Morgans.
1) One, what did I buy? 2) Resource for what I bought, if this is what is called a 3fly set, what is a good resource for a routine. Any other help appreciated. |

Hey al! I’m glad you are enjoying the set! It is a custom made version of U3F. Basically the ideas of a slippery Sam is what set the groundwork for the split coin. If you have tangopedia (comes with every tango gaff coin) Marcelo goes over routines with it. Illusion coins by magic makers was a direct ripoff of the ultimate 3 fly set but unlike the U3F, is readily available and the dvd by itself is quite easy to find on it’s own secondhand. Shoot me another pm (I deleted all my messages in my inbox to clear room) and I’ll see what links/resources I have readily available to share with you

I also want to add that it is the brain child originally from Steve dusheck (R.I.P.). A lot of effects are based on this idea of his. I.E. Digital dissolve.

So my question is, what do I have, a 3fly, U3F (what does that even mean) or what?

It’s a modified (improved ) version of U3F (Ultimate 3 Fly). The original set used a locking sliding shell (the rim had a slight bend that would snag on the remilled coin to stay “locked”. This set has the same locking feature but a different way of “locking”. The set was designed for the U3F routine but like most coin gaffs, can be used for many other things. Marcel uses it (a non locking version...but works the same to routine it) for a wonderful matrix.

OK, so now I know that it is, an U3F.
Where do I find the original routine for them? |

Todd Lassen w/bob kohler was the only people to have it on the market. There is only the vhs tape they put out with the set. Though illusion coins was a direct ripoff and the routine is the same. So , that dvd would show the routine step by step

OK, so I ordered a set of the magic makers kit from Amazon. I don't care about the phony coins, just the routine.

The routine is exactly the same as the kohler version.

Just curious. Why would you spend such $$ for a set without knowing what it was for/what it could do. I am all (!) for speculating on what can be achieved beyond my current knowledge but I'm guessing you may have had other motivations.

Al Desmond - I talk to Todd Lassen regularly and if you have questions PM me and I will try to get routines or answers for you. Todd is a wealth of info and has a lot of routines on wild video links. Happy to help you my friend!

I'm one of those you might view as having more money than sense. However, even though I no longer perform and probably couldn't because of my age, physical limitations, and remote location (no place nearby to perform), I have a love of entertaining myself practicing magic and I enjoy working with fine apparatus. With the money to buy Todd Lassen coin sets for my own pleasure, why not?
When I die, my magic apparatus will most likely be given to a promising and deserving young magician or magicians; or perhaps it will be sold here for the benefit of a worthy charity. BTW, I'm hopeful I have a few good years left. So while I may have "more money than sense" it is just the way that I am. |

BUY Less or Buy More...It is about OUR enjoyment of a hobby, pastime, semi-profession or more. If it floats your boat or blow up your skirt to buy high-end gaffs, Have at it - if you have the cash and it is worth to you...Pull the Trigger with a SMILE!
