I'm writing a routine combining Barry Mitchell's wonderful 'Mother of all diamonds' with a child coming up to hold what they initially think is a black stone (described as coal).
As the routine ends, the aqua water vase is tipped out to show that the coal has changed to 'diamonds' and the helper is asked to open her hand (or maybe it's in a little bag she has been holding all this time or on a necklace she has been asked to wear) to show that her black stone has also turned into a diamond. Could you please point me in the right direction to having an object the size of a small pebble 'change' in the spectator's hand? Thanks so much in advance and I hope you're all safe and healthy |

Possible like the exchange or double of coins or cards -or sponge balls in the hand - have child keep looking at you, not hand - Helps ? ? Isolated the House Hermit, Ralph

Bobo’s book. You can do the Bobo sw*tch with pebbles instead of coins and it works fine. Place the diamond in the hand and shield it from view as you wrap the child’s fingers over it and say “hold onto that piece of coal and don’t let it get away.”

Nice touch for that routine. I have that prop, and the sizes are so different, it would be difficult to ensure that the child would keep the hand closed when he/she feels the large coal after being "given" the small diamond. The safest, easiest and most effective, in my opinion, would be a small tote bag like that offered by ickle pickle.

Great ideas, you're right - the tote bag is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks so much, |
