I'm in the market to replace my Steve Draun Real Man's Wallet, which I have carried for years and absolutely love. For context, I am an amateur who, prior to the latest apocalypse, works a paid strolling gig - usually a cocktail party or corporate happy hour - a few times a month, mostly to offset my magic habit.
I'm looking for input on the added value of Tony Miller's updated Real Man's Speed Loader (~$95 @ Penguin/VI) vs. the Draun model (~$30 @ Penguin/VI). I realize that Tony designed both, but I'm trying to decide whether the "no slide" feature of the Speed Loader justifies the additional $65 investment. Also, I've heard mixed reviews on the quality of the materials for the Speed Loader, although it seems that this may have been an issue only with the first runs of production. Does anyone have some insight here? |

I'm thinking about the real man speed loader version too - Any input from users?

I know it's tempting to give another wallet a try, but since you love the Steve's wallet and are comfortable/skilled using it, why switch horses midstream?

Great point, pepper! Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.

My pleasure bb, but don't get me wrong...I've switched horses many times when it comes to props and more likely than not I've always gotten back onto the original stead.

I bought two original speed loader wallets from Tony. Used as my everyday wallet and the first one I have just retired after 5 years. Quality build a great product and the load is game changing in my view. I don't have the Steve Draun model so can't compare.
Hope this helps Cheers Andy |

An update: I switched to Brent Braun's FPS about six months ago and am LOVING my decision, mostly, because the wallet suits my style more aesthetically. Functionally, the two are quite similar, and I find the load exactly as smooth and effortless.

Recently I switched to a Nexus wallet but it began to tear so I dug up my JOL hip pocket…still a fantastic wallet!! Especially because it uses NO slide!

With Real Man, can I load a dummy card into wallet as a prediction in front of spec, then load the actual card during performance and take out as if it was the original dummy I loaded ?

Not easily since the card is visible in a window.
