Hello, I'm a blue concept magician and developing color change routines with blue finals since years.
Still I don't have a good color changing rose routine, one of the reason of that is color of the special designed roses. They are red and white usually. I have tried Multicolor Lighting Rose product but I don't feel comfortable with electronic products and I prefer to trust sleight of hand instead of electronics. I was thinking painting a product would be a good idea to give blue effect. I really liked color changing rose product who designed by JL MAGIC. It has white to red effect. If I must have change this effect into a blue, is dye fabric a good option for this product? It looks one of the cleanest move for color changing rose performances and I need an alternative solution. Do you think it is a good idea? Do you have better suggestions for what I seek? Any other magician solution? Please let me know what you think... Thank you! |

You seem to be a leader in Color Changing Rose effects, not much, to my knowledge in Color Changes for roses in print or video. Being a leader, you have to use the trial and error method of invention.
I would work with the cloth fake roses sold in hobby and craft stores. Try Easter Egg dye or clothing dyes and just keep sampling until you find what works best for you. I have purchased only 2 Color Changing Rose effects of the years, and neither was very good. One made in Japan had the roses made out of sponge, thin flat sponge. Your best solution would be keep working on a sleight of hand method or methods. One thing to consider, you should not produce blue roses if you are wearing a blue jacket, the audience will not fully see the blue flower. |

Just greenhatting, but a chemical principle may work.
Think something like this but using thymol blue (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thymol_blue) instead of phenolphthalein. Instead of ph level, it may be possible to find pigment which changes with temperature. So when an embedded heating element is activated the color changes. |

JL products from Korea, offered a color changing flower a while back. The problem with that chemical color change is that it does not last long. So I never ordered one. Then one has to consider how long it takes for the change to happen.

I think this is very valuable method as well. I'll keep this in my mind to use when it's necessary. Thank you |
