I have heard that the best way to make the Slop Shuffle convincing is to move both hands.
Could sommebody explain to me exactly what that means? I have been studying magic for the past 25 years. So sorry for the newbie question! |

I'm right-handed, so in my case, the left thumb spreads cards over to the right where they are taken by the right hand, either palm-up or palm-down, depending. Are you possibly confusing the slop shuffle with the 'Zarrow Shuffle', where one of the key points is that both hands move at the same time, rotating towards the center?

I *think* Oz pearlman says that in his explanation on Born to Perform, turning over both hands when doing the slop shuffle.
So feed cards into right hand, revolve right hand so its palm down feed more, then revolve right palm up feed more, then turn left hand so its palm down and feed on top etc etc doing it this way means you'll be feeding some cards to the top of the right hand and some cards underneath the cards in the right hand. Personally I prefer just rotating the right hand and keeping the left feeding in the cards in dealing grips (much in the same way Sankey does it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXPnXvjvcRk) |

First reference that I have found is Eddie Tullock.
Instead of keeping the left wrist still and turning the right wrist, both wrists turn. It makes the move look less 'calculated'. |

I've always just turned one hand, but after reading this have tried turning both and it does appear to add to the confused state of the pack - thanks.

For culling my half-stack I use Eddie Tullock's tip too. You can get a nice flow going and it doesn't have to be a monotonous left-right, left-right procedure. You can choose to turn over either hand as needed if it feels like there's a pattern.
