Super Memory Expert and Card Magician, Harry Lorayne, recently celebrated his 94th birthday and to say he is a legend in magic is an understatement. MAGIC Magazine heralded Harry as one of the "100 Most Influential Magicians of the 20th Century". That says it all. But Harry has a lot more to say.
This week on The Magic Word Podcast Harry talks about how he became a memory expert and went on to sell millions of books and teach at seminars around the world plus appearances on several television talk shows including "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson". He also chats about some of the books he has written plus his seminal and long-running close-up journal/newsletter, "Apocalypse". Harry has befriended and brushed shoulders with many celebrities including Mel Brooks, Anne Bancroft, Frank Sinatra and many others which he discusses in this week's podcast. What a great interview Scott. Harry is a true legend. In this day with so many wannabes trying to fake success, it is so great to hear from someone who has contributed so much and had a lifetime of experience to share and is still willing to entertain and educate us.
Harry seems to get a hard time around here from the younger generation, but I must say he has my utmost respect and truly deserves his place in both magic and the mental arts history. Great episode. |

Shortly after I posted this episode I received an anonymous (of course) post of someone who clearly does not like Mr. Lorayne. He clearly does he have any respect nor appreciation for Harry's volume of work and what he has contributed to our community for generations. But there will always be the naysayers and mudslingers from the gallery. Such is life. I try to focus on the positive and good in people and what humanity can do to make this world better and build on that...not tear it down and build from scratch. Thank you so much for your post and your kind comments on the episode. And thanks for listening!
