I'm working on an effect that's going to use a force of 3 cards. What are the 3 most memorable or chosen cards in your experience? Thanks for your help!

Bob Farmer's "Ten Card Deal Dossier with Addendum & DVD" has a very specific scientific study showing cards "most likely" and "least likely" to be "chosen" beforehand and "visualized (thought of)". there are 5 - 6 cards in each. The study goes further than just this info and is well worth noting for card magicians.

Hello Tweed,
I believe you'll find the following article which I've cited elsewhere on the Café more useful to your work than a flippant response: https://www.scientificamerican.com/artic......d-magic/ Be sure to click on the link within it that takes you to the actual table of frequencies/probablilities. I think that'll give you the info you're searching for. Best wishes, Thomas Henry |

They were listed in categories from "most picked" "most Imagined" "least picked (or liked maybe)". The main reason the study was in the book was there was also a chart for "best card sets" to use in a 10 card poker deal set up. The other charts were just "nice extras" to add in the book as well as "very helpful" to magicians. Maybe someone with the book handy can PM you with the answer to your question from the charts. They contain good info to have (although some will disagree with their findings on the position of one or two of the cards rankings).

The raw data from the article contains further breakdowns such as participants age and gender. That would be interesting to look at. Do women, for example, vary strongly from men in choosing cards?
It's never crowded on the extra mile....
