Yesterday was my birthday and my spouse baked my favorite pineapple upside-down cake.
I decided to look up the nutritional value of this desert - not that it matters. 366 calories per serving, 16 vitamins and minerals, little salt and no fat baddies. OK. Yet, it describes a serving as 1/9 of 8" pan. Hummm. This could be an interesting math problem for kids, especially since my wife uses a round pan. What is the size of each piece? But wait! There are seven pineapple rings with cherry centers. Any idiot would cut the cake so that each person gets a complete miracle. Nine pieces? Nada - there are seven. Possibly of interest to those using math in magic effects. All perceptions are not equal.

About 2 and 92/125 inches.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

If 9 pieces:
A=pi*r*r r=4 pi*16/9 = about 5.6 sq inches. We don't know the height of the cake. But multiply 5.6 times the height to get the volume of pineapply goodness in cubic inches.

Thanks everyone. I still cut it into 7 pieces, each with a whole pineapple ring.
Number of calories. Too many, but a fraction of many cakes.
