Hey guys & gals.
I'm a Cellini fan, so when buzz about E. McFalls 'No Ordinary Magic' book hit my radar I checked out an interview she did where she tells a story about Cellini being paid by the local shell game hustlers to show (and trick) them with the "Push Button trick". There's a photo of him performing it for them. I don't think I saw him perform it in the videos I've watched, and I'm not an owner of his book so I'm not sure if it's explained in there, but was wondering what that trick is? Perhaps it's better known under a different name? Also... for what it's worth... I'm fairly sheltered from cards, so it could very well be a classic, I've just never heard about it and search engines are futile for the term 'push button magic'. Hope everyone's having a great start to their December.

The trick is very briefly discussed in 'The Royal Touch'. Page 141

Just re-read your post and realized you don't have the book (BTW, great awesome book).
In a nutshell, it is an ambitious card routine done with 3 cards. Cellini IMHO was a master of what worked on the street. And obviously he could get a ton of mileage out of the simplest of effects & make it most entertaining. |

That book's been on my Xmas list three years in a row now, so if SWMBO doesn't get the picture this year, maybe it's time to step up and grab it myself. Regarding his mileage, I totally agree. He, his tricks, and his instructionals have been great reminders that you don't need fancy moves. His card to pocket (and, frankly, any of his tricks) is a beautiful example of this. Simple to follow, no difficult moves, and magical.
