I’ve received some private enquiries about where I’ve been these past few months, so I thought I’d fill you in:
On October 17th last year I was taking my rescue dog Rockefella for our last walk of the evening. We had just entered a crosswalk when I saw a car rapidly approaching with its turn signal on. I hurried past the center line and was already nearing the curb when Rockefella and me were hit from behind. Flew through the air and hit the ground hard, shattering my pelvis and severely injuring my left ankle. Instead of stopping to render assistance, the car just kept going. Rockefella’s left back leg was all twisted and I was in excruciating pain. Had to crawl to the nearest house to ask for help. Long story short, I was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery while Rockefella was taken to the 24-hour animal clinic. After surgery (with long screws inserted to hold my pelvic breaks and fractures together) and 2 weeks recovery in hospital, plus a two further months in a rehab facility, I was finally discharged. Now spending the bulk of my days at home recuperating in a recliner, but getting around the ground floor of our house using a walker, and doing a sort of sideways shuffle on crutches in the bathroom. Working with physical therapists twice a week for the next 3 months, after which I’ll (hopefully) be able to walk properly again. Rockefella also had emergency surgery on his hip, was sent home after 2 weeks, and is recovering well. Still favors the injured leg, but by walking him slowly my wife Leslie is making sure he learns to use all 4 legs again. Well, that’s my story. Haven’t felt any inclination to practice magic yet, but I’m anxious to write & record music. Still unable to get to our music studio, which has delayed any music sales and projects for the time being. Hopefully by April or May we’ll be back in business! |

So sorry to hear this, Arthur. Hope you and Rockefella mend swiftly and well. (Also hope they catch the perp.)

So sorry, Arthur. I hope you and Rockefella recuperate soon.
Here in NYC, my understanding is that though auto traffic is way down, the accidents are up. So I guess the conclusion is that those who are out there now are more reckless.

Arthur(!), man, what bummer!
I'm not sure if this is 'fitting', or not,.. but a friend just,... like 'JUST(!)',.. told me this joke... so, ...it,....might fit. A man wants to commit suicide, because he has only one leg. Wanting to jump off of a roof, he looks down. He sees a man with no arms(!) that is dancing and jumping around and looks happy! He gets confused and wonders: "Why is this guy that happy? Dancing(!), with no arms?" He decides not to jump,.... and goes to the guys and asks him: "How can you be that happy? I don't have one leg and I'm suicidal!" The man answers: "I'm not happy! My rear-end is itchy!..!" Arthur, I wish you well. ,...altho, with a good Lady on your side, you don't need much 'well-wishing'. "Twist and shout!" buddy! gallagher |

There a good six-part drama on BCC that you might find interesting Arthur, called The Missing.
Get well soon.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Hey, Arthur — have we ever talked guitars?
What do you currently own (or wish you did)? Myself, I just keep it down to a couple: an old black mid-1970s Gibson SG Custom (with a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge, their hottest pickup), for my Tony Iommi/Black Sabbathy sounds, and a white (yellowing) 1972 reissue Fender Strat (with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups — named for their big 1/4” polepieces — whose interior I shielded, and whose rosewood fingerboard I sloppily hand-scalloped myself), for when I want to play Deep Purple/Rainbow/Ritchie Blackmore stuff. Run both through a Marshall half-stack. How about you?

On Feb 21, 2021, karnak wrote: Hey Karnak, thanks for asking! Sounds like you've got two great guitars there! I’ve got two main axes: A Fender Telecaster and a Les Paul copy. I got my original 1979 Fender Tele in 1980, and fitted it with Seymour Duncan pickups. However, this guitar was lost in a plane crash later that same year. Replaced it with an exact copy, but this time I kept the original pickups. Used that guitar for many, many years, and borrowed Gibson Les Pauls whenever necessary. Upon retirement from doing magic shows a few years ago, I finally decided to supplement my guitar collection. So now, in addition to my Tele, I also own an Epiphone Standard Pro Les Paul copy. For jazz, I use an Ibanez AS53 Hollow Body. I have two acoustics: A Cordoba Cadette ¾ size nylon string for bossa nova, and a Yamaha Dreadnaught acoustic/electric for everything else. And an Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Short-Scale Bass Guitar rounds out my collection. Oh, and when I was still touring, I always used a Marshall stack. |

I am a just a road toting around my wife's guitars and harps and other weird instruments.
On the guitar side a 1970 Martin D12-28 gifted by John D'Addario , a custom 1976 Strat patterned after Robbie Robertson, a specially built Rushing 6 for modal tuning, a Taylor 8 string baritone and several others. Then there are seven harps. Some times I wonder why since she has an incredible four octave + voice, very authentic without need of mike or instrument. I am blessed to have music in my life every day.

FYI Arthur, you have a few other well-wishes on the "looking out for our own" forum! I know you compose as well as play music; so I hope that keeps you a little busy! I'm a jazz and blues guitarist in love with my Ibanez Artist semi-hollow body; but like you I love all kinds of music AND magic. Lynn
